The largest of the european species when you combine length with its stocky build. Superbly friendly despite their strength and build,

I really like these snakes; lovely to handle and have a very nice character as standard.

As adults they are rather sombre looking with dark lines running down their bodies, as youngsters they look superb; reminiscent of male adders with silver background and black markings down their backs!

Another European species that is just begining to attain the popularity it deserves.

KEY CARE FACTS:

Easy to care for but choose enclosure size well as these snakes do get fairly big and they will use the space and climb well too. 

Greedy feeders once they get going, and then grow well if given the food.
